We scored a free bed frame and box spring a while ago and I (Marie) sanded it and primed and painted it- it had a really clumpy nasty coat of white and was dirty (I should have taken "before" pics). Note to self: With all the spindly things and curves, next time just use the spray paint and forget that it was the "wrong" brown because "your" brown wasn't that close of a match to the dresser anyway.
Anyway, it's been sitting in the basement waiting for the day when we got around to setting it up.
There are two main reasons why it took so long: Laziness/procrastination and a really reluctant recipient who was pretty attached to his tiny little converted crib. But I really wanted the space back in the basement since it's getting warm enough spend time down there and it's been driving me nuts. So with Richy around today we bit the bullet.
STAGE ONE: Vacate the premises.
STAGE TWO: Demolition of existing structure.
It's a good thing these two have been watching so many shows where the burly guys tear stuff down a build new stuff. I think it helped our cause.
Linus spontaneously drew up what his new bed would look like, complete with the "buddies" at the foot of the bed.
STAGE THREE: Level One
STAGE FOUR: Finishing touches and celebration.
Last summer our friends the Hix family moved away and it was devastating for Linus. As a parting gift, Karla gave Linus this brand-new quilt she scored (as only Karla can) from the Goodwill. We've been looking forward to using it for ten months and it looks GREAT.
The last time Grandma Joy visited she gave Linus a plaque (the blue one he's pointing to)
So there you have it. Now let's hope sleeping in it goes as well as setting it up.
